| This is an interesting antique oil painting of two handsome sporting / hunting dogs, an English Setter and a Gordon Setter, in the midst of duck hunting. Nice lush landscape. Wonderful details throughout. There is one tiny scuff in the lower right edge. There is an old piece of tape on the back of the canvas, on the white and brown dogs back, where there is a small tear. Also, a gold paint stroke across the front edge. The painting is monogrammed in the lower right of canvas, "M.E.M. ‘96". (1896) The original wood and fancy gesso frame is in excellent condition with a few very tiny chips. Replaced wire hanger. This is a very nice pair of hunting dogs in a late 19th century oil painting and frame. Circa 1896. |
