| This is a very interesting antique Victorian, Primitive, late 19th century landscape oil painting on board. This painting has wonderful colors in a quaint picturesque setting. The wintry scene has an enchanting glittery quality to the snow. Unfortunately, the glitter is not visible in our photographs. The homestead / mill in the foreground is painted with warm, appealing colors. The man, woman, and horse adds charm and interest to this painting. There is such fine details in this painting such as the horse wearing blinders, the little picket fence, the bridge over the stream, and the beautiful trees. The painting is in excellent original condition. The original wood and decorative gesso frame is very ornate and complimentary to the painting. There are delicate ferns, flowers, and clover throughout this exquisite antique Victorian frame. The frame is in excellent original condition and retains its original gold finish with a great old patina. Original wood backing and old wire hanger. Circa late 19th century. |
